Why Buy a Safe?

Do you say to yourself that "it won’t happen to me"? There are sad facts that it is happening to businesses and people every day and that’s why there is a multi-billion dollar market for insurance. If you have adequate insurance you are no doubt covered for most types of loss but often not all items and types of documents can be replaced by insurance. It is then, incomplete protection. People generally assume a safe is just for keeping cash and jewellery in. The following points should be considered to complete a simple evaluation of your needs and help determine the extra protection you should consider:

  • Where do you keep important documents such as birth/marriage certificates?
  • Your passport, college degree and sentimental items, are they all safe?
  • Do you keep the receipts for large and expensive purchases in a safe and secure place? Your assets may be insured but how can you prove to your insurance company that you posses these large expensive items. In fact have you got your policy document safe and sound?
  • For all of your valuable data, pictures on your computer etc.., do you keep them in a data/fire safe? To protect computer media requires a more substantial fire safe to keep the temperature and humidity at a much lower level as computer media melts easily being made of plastic.
  • No doubt most people keep back up copies of your computer data, but again, are they safely locked away in a fire safe?

The security safe and/or fire safe could be the answer to keep your important documents, media, cash, jewellery and personal possessions safe. There are a variety of types of safes on the market, and these include:

  • Cash safes
  • Data safes
  • Document safes
  • Key cabinet/safes
  • Gun cabinet/safes
  • Time locked safes
  • Hotel safes

All of the above fall into the following two categories of safe that are available:

  1. Burglary Resistant - designed to keep cash & valuables safe for commercial and domestic premises
  2. Fire Resistant Safes - designed for protecting valuable documents and computer media in the event of a fire
