Home Window Security Bars

The windows in your property pose as the most venerable security risk. Glass is so easy to break and most windows are large enough for a person to quickly and easily climb through and be into your property in seconds. However, there is a visual and physical deterrent that can help keep burglars away and think twice about breaking into your property. Window security bars allow people to have the freedom of leaving their windows partially open, allowing fresh air in. The security is still maintained as the windows don’t open enough to allow a person to climb in.

Security bars also prevent children from climbing out of the windows, thus preventing injury. Some bars are provided with a lock so the windows can be fully opened if needs be. This is worth considering in the case of an emergency, where you would ant to get out quickly. There are quick release type security bars, again useful to escape in an emergency. Security bars, unfortunately, do little to enhance the visual appearance of your property and can make it look like a prison. But don’t despair as there are some very decorative and appealing security bars available on the market. Some are designed to appear to be part of the window itself and some have a decorative scroll effect.

Consider protecting your garage and outbuildings, these can also benefit from fitting window bars or grills/shutters. These have expensive items such as your car, lawnmower, tools and gardening equipment which you can afford to have stolen. The appearance of window bars on these building wont be so much of a problem.

Security bars should be considered as one of many components of your overall home security strategy. Externally, it is worth considering CCTV, exterior security lighting as well as secure door and window locks.
